Graduate students can apply their knowledge and skills to practical case studies and challenges by utilizing our new Disaster & Emergency Management lab, equipped with emergency management software. Students are offered opportunities to participate in various field studies and disaster drills, engage in emergency preparedness and response activities, and volunteer with emergency management specialists through faculty members’ informal linkages to public and private sector organizations.

Whenever possible, students are also encouraged to complement their work with research being done in a number of areas across the University like the Nathanson Centre for the Study of Organized Crime and Corruption, the York Centre for International and Security Studies and a large number of other centres involved in geographic or area studies.
